Blood bath leaves one dead in Buxton

A bloody fight in Buxton on the railway Embankment early Sunday morning, has left a father of one dead and his assailant in hiding with multiple stab wounds.

Dead is 34 year old Leon Delph, of Quaminna Street Georgetown, while his assailant was identified as Junior Allen, a resident of Buxton.

Details suggest that Allen slashed the throat of Delph after recognizing him from a misunderstanding they had several years ago on Wellington and Regent Streets.

Police sources have since launched a manhunt for Allen, while they are preparing to have postmortem performed on the remains of Delph tomorrow Monday.

Sources in Buxton who witnessed the incident, indicated that Allen was the aggressor in the misunderstanding this morning, just as he was seven years ago.

This morning, after he slashed the throat of Delph, Delph tied his injury with a jersey and ran behind him where they eventually ensued in a scuffle.

That resulted in Delph revenging Allen by inflicting several stab wound with a bottle but Allen managed to escape when Delph became weak and fell to the ground as a result of loss of blood.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Guyana Daily News, spoke with persons close to Delph who claimed that he was always discouraged from going to Buxton, since Allen in 2011, had promised to “kill him” no matter how long it took.

Delph had taken a position not to go to the community but on Saturday evening, his friends who failed to protect him during the attack on Sunday morning, were the ones who managed to persuade him to ride with them to Buxton for a jouvert party.
The police are investigating this matter.
