Businessman busted with illegal gun, ammo; wife arrested attempting to bribe cops

Police ranks from ‘C’ Division Saturday morning swooped down on the home of 41-year-old businessman Danram Salikram at lot 26 Helena No.1 Mahaica.
Police received intelligence that the man, who owns a stall in the Mahaica Market, was in possession of a firearm without having a license to carry same.
A search of his premises found that he had a .32 pistol with its serial number filed off and also had 17 9MM rounds and 50 .32 rounds.
Police sources indicated that man’s home was visited by a party of police ranks who after searching the premises discovered that the weapon and ammunition was stashed in his bedroom. He was promptly arrested and told of his offence and reportedly admitted to the police that indeed the illegal weapon and ammunition are his property.
After the man was taken to the police station, his 40 year old wife Sabita Nandranie Kemraj went to the Mahaica Police Station where she offered a police corporal more than half a million dollars to drop the charges against her husband..
The woman was promptly arrested.
