.On Tuesday, the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), inked a new agreement with several contractors to develop housing schemes at Peters Hall and Providence, East Bank Demerara.
The contracts were in the sum of over $357 million and is for building roads, culverts, drains, water lines among others. The contractors are Chung’s Global Enterprise, Guymerica Construction, Colin Talbot contracting, Eron Lall Civil Engineering, KB&B contractors, H.Nauth & Sons and Romel Jagroop General Construction.
The works are expected to be completed in a matter of five months, this is according to Director of Project at the CH&PA, Omar Narine. Narine challenged the contractors in completing the projects in a timely manner, he further noted that he has confidence in the contractors because of his experience working with them in the past. Narine is calling on all suppliers of the necessary materials to rise to the challenge when the need arises.
CEO of CH&PA, Leon Saul, in brief remarks, said that the selection process of the contractors was a transparent one since it went through the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board. Saul also noted that efforts are in place to develop other areas such as Cumming’s Lodge to cater for squatters.
