Couple arrested for weapons/marijuana find in house


An operation by the police in ‘A’ Division yesterday afternoon unearthed three unlicensed firearms and a quantity of compressed marijuana.
The find was made at a home in Duncan Street Campbellville between 18:00hrs and 22:00hrs. The police during the operation arrested a man and his reputed wife who were at home when the search was conducted.
Police sources indicated that the ranks acted on intelligence that the couple were involved in the retailing and wholesaling of marijuana and that they also had illegal weapons on the premises.
Added to that, persons in the area were alarmed with the presence of numerous vehicles pulling up at the premises, spending a short amount of time and then leaving.
The weapons found at the premises were one Taurus magnum revolver and six live rounds and two 9mm pistols and 36 live .45 rounds.
The investigations are ongoing.
