‘Deadly’ miscommunication by GPHC

Hospital personnel made a ‘deadly’ mistake this morning when they communicated to a family, the news that a relative who was hospitalized was dead.

Guyana Daily News was made to understand that while the family had three relatives in the hospital at the time, the child that they identified as being dead was actually alive and receiving medical attention while her sister succumbed to injuries and their mother remained critical.

The three were among a number of persons who had to be hospitalized following an accident on Soesdyke, Linden Highway, on Sunday afternoon when the car the now hospitalized woman was driving, lost control and slammed into two other vehicles.

It is unclear where they were heading at the time but, from all indications they were heading in an opposite direction from the bus they collided with.

Dead is Ariana Huges while her mother and sister are still alive battling for their lives. The child whose name was given as the deceased earlier in the day was Jada Enmore.

The hospital is investigating the miscommunication.
