The police in Berbice are investigating the discovery of a decomposed body which was found yesterday by a security guard at Port Mourant.
The security guard who is attached to a school in the area told detectives that was having a foul smell and upon investigating she observed a partly decomposed body of a male lying face down in an empty lot next to the premises she was working.
The police quickly cordorned off the area and proceed to process the crime scene.
They found a pair of slippers next to the remains which were clad in a dark blue short pants..
The remains were discovered yesterday afternoon and based on information reaching Daily News, it was found about ten feet away from a burial ground in the area.
It is inclear if the body is that of anyone who was reported missing anytime recently and for how long the remains were in the area.
Part of the foot of the remains appear to have been eaten by animals according to police sources in the area.
The body is at the Skeldon Hospital mortuary.
