Man robbed after leaving bank

Police are investigating a robbery under arms committed on a 50 year-old fisherman, of Cove & John, ECD, which occurred about 11:50hrs today.

According to police, the incident took place a short distance from his residence. A sum of cash was allegedly taken by two males, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
The police further noted that the victim had refused to handover the bag containing the money, he was shot once in the left upper leg as a result, he was also gun-butted to the head. He is presently admitted in a stable condition at a Government Medical Institution.

Investigators have since retrieved several spent shells of a small calibre weapon from the scene.

The  investigation revealed that the victim in company of his daughter, went to a Commercial Bank located on the East Coast of Demerara and made a withdrawal, after which they proceeded home in a public transportation.

The exited on the Cove & John Public Road and started walking through an access road leading to their home, the suspects exited a motor car and assaulted the victim before they relieved the victim of his property, no arrests have yet been.
