Nandlall charged without any statements on law books case

The revelation that former Attorney General, Anil Nandlall had been charged with larceny by bailee without any statement submitted to the court and an incomplete investigation has cause the Politician to reiterate his position that the charge laid against him were politically motivated and amounts to political witch hunting.

Nandlall during his court appearance on Tuesday learned that the Prosecution has no statements in the matter and that the statements will be available sometime after May 29, which will be more than a month after he was initially arrested and charged.

Speaking to reporters outside the Magistrate’s court yesterday, Nandlall said that it was common knowledge that charges are based on evidence found in statements given by persons who would later become witnesses in the matter.

“Here it is that we are told by the prosecution from the bar table of the court that they instituted these charges without that evidence, without those statements and therefore they did so unctuously and precisely on the grounds upon with we have been saying they are processing from the inception and that ground is political witch hunting,” the former AG expressed.

He maintained that the case has nothing to do with the unlawful acquisition of the law books and that the law books are his property paid for by the State under an arrangement with the former President.
