The Chief Executive Office of the Public Procurement Commission PPC is to be paid a sum of GYD$ 950,000 monthly. This is according to documents seen by the Guyana Daily News.
Article 212Z (2) of the Constitution of Guyana states that: “The Commission shall appoint a Chief Executive Officer, who shall serve as Secretary, and as such other officer and employees may be necessary for the efficient discharge of its functions. The terms and conditions of the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer and the two most senior officer shall be subject to the approval of the National Assembly.”
According to the document, the PPC after it had consulted with the Public Account Committee (PAC) at a meeting held on Monday 5th February, 2018, accepted that the proposal be forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration.
The document noted that, the CEO is to receive a salary of GYD $950,000 along with 22.5% gratuity twice per year, entertainment allowance is pegged at GYD$10,000 along with telephone allowance of GYD$ 15,000. 35 days annula leave is proposed that includes vacation allowance equivalent to one month’s salary. Also 24hrs security for place of residence.
The Head, Operations salary is proposed at GYD$600,000, with 28 days annual leave, the other benefits remains the same. The Head, Corporate Service remuneration and benefits is proposed the same as the Head Operations.
The PPC commissioners were sworn in back in 2016, supposedly ending Cabinet’s role in approving contracts for the State.
