Persons traversing roads in the Cuyuni/Mazaruni area will have to pay a toll very shortly. This is according to Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson. The Minister explained that the fees will be for maintenance of the roads. He encouraged the Regional Administration to come up with a plan of how they will achieve this.
Patterson noted that “Soon we will be finished upgrading the roads. I would hope that we can work along with the region on this,” He also noted that upon his inspection of the road in the Region recently, he noted that works are needed especially to the Ameila Falls Hydro Power road which is being heavily traversed by Troy Resources.
Echoing the sentiments is Regional Chairman of Region 7, Gordon Bradford, he noted that the initiative is a good one and it will help in the maintenance of the roads as was previously done for roads leading to Mahdia.
