Unemployed man who robbed Police Officer arrested

The police have arrested an unemployed resident of Sparendaam, ECD for robbing a Police Constable around 19:50hrs yesterday on Hick Street.

According to a police Investigation, the 23 year-old peace officer was walking along Hinck Street, when the suspect who was armed with a pair of shears, pounced on the officer and relieved him of a cellphone and $240.00 Guyana currency and escaped.

The policeman did not try to engage the robber but instead, made a thorough observation of him and promptly informed his supervisors.

A short while later, a team comprised of a Cadet Officer went to the Stabroek Market area and arrested the suspect under the ‘Clock’; he was found in possession of the victim’s property as well as the instrument used in the commission of the crime.
