Chanmoney Charlie of Crabwood Creek on the Corentyne Coast is now dead and her husband who is reportedly of unsound mind is being questioned.
The woman reportedly died as a result of stabbing herself to the abdomen. She was described as an alcoholic.
According to reports, the woman on stabbed herself on Saturday and then went to her neghibours and told them what she did.
The neighbours attempted to take the womamn to the hospital but she refused, however later on that same night she was taken to the hospital at Skeldon where she was treated and sent away.
The following day she returned complaining of pains and again she was treated and sent away. She eventually died on Monday night at her home.
Her husband, Resh Lakhraj has since been taken into police custody and he is assisting with investigations; he is said to be in his 60s’.
Relatives are now contending that the woman might have been alive if the doctors had done their jobs correctly.
They are claiming that the woman was not examined properly by health workers there and she was not treated for internal injuries or bleeding. They claim that the doctors only stitched up her wound from the outside.
They are contending that she was bleeding on the inside and that is what caused her continued pain and subsequent death.
