PPP was not invited to launching of Jagan’s stamps

The PPP has not been invited to the launching of the commemorative centenary stamps of the birth Dr. Cheddi Jagan.

According to a media invitation from the Ministry of the Presidency, “the Government of Guyana will be hosting a launching ceremony of the Commemorative Centenary Stamp of the birth anniversary of Former President Cheddi Jagan, the event will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Ministry’s Shiv Chanderpaul Drive Office.”

PPP General Secretary, Bharrat Jagdeo,  noted that the party has not been invited and even thought if there was an invitation, the party would not attend.

The Cheddi Jagan Research Institute has entered into a contractual arrangement with the Guyana Post Office Corporation for the printing of the stamps and for it to be delivered for an event, however, the GPOC told the CJRI that the government has prevented the issuance of the stamps.

The GPOC is not a Governmental agency and died not fall under the ambits of the Public Service and therefore should not now to the instructions from the Government.
