The Government of Guyana, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) will be hosting a Workshop for Judges and Prosecutors, which will be held during the period May 3-4, 2018 Georgetown, Guyana at the Pegasus Hotel.
The Workshop will cover Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) issues with a focus on prosecution and asset recovery. The outcomes of the Workshop are intended to dovetail into global workshops for Judges and Prosecutors that have been conducted jointly between the FATF and FATF Style Regional Bodies (FSRBs).
In attendance at the Workshop will be the Hon. Baroness Patricia Scotland QC, Commonwealth Secretary-General, Mr. Santiago Otamendi President of the Financial Action Task Force.
Among those invited are members of the Commonwealth and several CFATF member states such as Antigua and Barbuda; the Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Dominica; Grenada; Guyana; Jamaica; Saint Lucia; St Kitts and Nevis; St Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.
The participants include Judges, Prosecutors and Crown Counsels. A total of 49 participants are expected to be in attendance.
Representing Guyana for Presecutors will be the Director of Public Prosecutions, Shalimar Ali Hack and Judges, Justice Navindra Singh and Justice Joann Barlow.
